WESTERN POWER PLAYERS: PART 8 & WESTERN ENERGY CAUCUS
Aug. 26-28, 2025 in Deer Valley, Utah
We are thrilled to announce Western Power Players: Part 8, taking place from August 26-28, 2025. Hosted by the Institute for Western Energy. This event will bring together an exclusive group of power sector experts to engage in a discussion on Threats to Grid Reliability in the West.
Attendees will include Policymakers at all levels of government, Utility and energy developer executives, Organized labor representatives, Advocacy and non-profit advocates, Energy consultants and service providers, Large energy buyers, Academic leaders, and many more, all of whom bring unparalleled expertise in the power sector.
This year's Western Power Players is strategically aligned with the August Policy Workshop for the Western Energy Caucus (WEC), a new bipartisan initiative bringing together lawmakers from eleven Western states to address our region's unique energy challenges. Bringing these two groups together represents a significant opportunity to bridge industry innovation with state energy policy development.
As load forecasts continue to increase and extreme weather events challenge grid operations across the West, this convening provides a timely opportunity to develop solutions to grid reliability challenges.
Building on our previous work, WPP Part 8 will address critical threats to grid reliability including:
-
Load Growth
-
Seams management
-
Permitting
-
Escalating wildfire liability
-
Interconnection queue backlog
New this summer, we will be hosting this event in Deer Valley, Utah to serve as an incredible catalyst for our group to partake in intimate, deep-dive discussions under the Chatham House rule.
